What is Workplace Mediation?

Workplace Mediation is a voluntary process where two or more parties agree to attend a meeting facilitated by an impartial mediator. The purpose of the meeting is to explore the issues of a difficult relationship in the workplace. Any meetings are confidential and any agreement at the end is worded by the two or more parties involved.

Workplace Mediation by survey has proved to be successful in over 80% of instances when used. It usually only takes one day with a half day follow up at an agreed later date.

How it works

Normally workplace mediation is undertaken by two mediators. The day of mediation will most commonly involve three facilitated meetings. One each with the individual parties followed by a joint meeting where the parties involved can explore the issues with the hope of coming to an agreement for the future. The role of the mediator is not to suggest a way forward but to remain impartial throughout the process.
